Malmon is the name of an African rice (Oryza glaberrima) variety still produced across the country due to its important characteristics; namely, its tolerance to salt, short vegetative cycle, weed competition capacity, long digestion time and medicinal use.

African rice, thus, confers resilience to food insecurity in times of climate change.
